The BC Ministry of Health has recently released a new Research and Knowledge Management Strategy (the Strategy) setting out a plan for the use of data and research evidence, now and in the future, and for working with researchers, our partners, on developing solutions to BC’s toughest challenges in the health care system. It is a plan to do things differently and better, to rebuild relationships and make new ones, and to work with and better support researchers in the creation of relevant and leading-edge research. We want to keep pace with the paradigm shifts that are occurring in health service delivery and health research, including putting patients at the centre of how evidence and policy is developed, and to build the trust and confidence of the people of BC, including researchers.

Heather Davidson is Assistant Deputy Minister, Partnerships and Innovation Division, at the BC Ministry of Health.
