Adverse drug events, unintended and harmful events associated with medications, have become a leading cause of preventable adverse events in medicine, increasing morbidity, mortality and health services use. In this seminar, Maeve will first present previous research findings from the Action ADE research team (http://actionade.org), then present her proposed doctoral research projects.

After graduating from the University of Alberta (MSc. Epidemiology) in 2012, Maeve began working in the UBC Department of Emergency Medicine, focusing on projects aimed to improve patient safety through enhanced detection, treatment, and reporting of adverse drug events. Maeve began her PhD at SPPH in September 2016, and her research, co-supervised by Drs. Corinne Hohl and Kim McGrail, is supported by a CIHR Doctoral Award.
