CHSPR Webinar | Physician financial incentives to reduce unplanned hospital readmissions

In 2012, the BC Ministry of Health introduced a $75 incentive payment that could be claimed by hospital physicians each time they produced a written post-discharge care plan for a complex patient at the time of hospital discharge. This seminar will present results from an interrupted time series analysis that examined whether policy introduction influenced hospital readmission rates in BC.

Dr John Staples is a UBC clinician-scientist based at Vancouver General Hospital. His research interests include unplanned hospital readmissions and medical risk factors for motor vehicle crash. He is supported by a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Health Professional-Investigator Award.
