Dr. McCracken explores how hypertension treatment is associated with possible harm for Canadians >70 years old. Her observational studies allow for an estimation of changes to the risk of having a new diagnosis of dementia based on how intensely blood pressure is treated. Her research highlights possible serious risks from commonly prescribed drugs.

Rita McCracken is a Vancouver-based family physician, teacher and researcher. She is completing her PhD studies at UBC in Experimental Medicine.
