Income-based deductibles are present in several Canadian public drug plans, and have been the subject of extensive debate. However, we have limited rigorous information on their impact. Therefore, we studied the impact of the deductibles used in British Columbia’s Fair PharmaCare program on drug utilization and health resource utilization. We used two quasi-experimental regression discontinuity designs to study the impact of deductibles using over 1.2 million person-years of data. In the presentation, Dr. Law will discuss the findings and implications of both analyses.
